The cow tower and its history

The name has the following meaning: many arable farmers lived in the upper town, i.e. they owned fields and meadows outside the walls and kept various livestock, mostly in the rear buildings. Every morning, three shepherds (one each for cows, pigs and geese) drove the cattle through this gate and down the adjoining hill to the Günz meadows to graze. Above the archway you can see a relief (dated 1617) with an angel holding the coat of arms of Margrave Karl in his right hand and the old town coat of arms in his left.
