Duisburger 8: The Südschleife - Defeat the Tiger!
You start at the Six Lakes District and cycle along the Green Path to Meiderich. The view on the high bridge and at the Wildförstersee is magnificent. Keep to the right and continue cycling through the forest. A more beautiful panorama is offered by the Wolfsberg with its observation tower. We continue south on the A524, through Rahm and under the Duisburg-Düsseldorf railway line. Open countryside with fields and meadows awaits you along the city limits of Düsseldorf. Cross a pony farm. Cycle along the districts of Serm and Ungelsheim north to Hüttenheim. The historic buildings of the former workers' settlement invite you to explore. We continue to the Angerbach, then to the Heinrich-Hildebrand-Höhe with the sculpture Tiger & Turtle. Conquer the tiger and enjoy the view. On the Rhine, the panorama at the Logport II vantage point is impressive. The Wanheim waterfront promenade offers direct contact with the Rhine and a great view. Meet the RheinPark at the Hochfeld-Süd bridge. The former industrial area was converted into a park with a Rhine promenade. The artificial beach invites you to take a break. Cross the Bridge of Solidarity and pass the Rockelsberg slag heap on the left. On the main road you reach the Homberg towpath and enjoy the view of "Rheinorange" and the mouth of the Ruhr. Cross the Friedrich-Ebert-Brücke and drive through Ruhrort. Over the Karl-Lehr-Brückenzug to Kaßlerfeld to the Schwanentor Bridge. Drive through the Quartier Innenhafen, a mix of architecture and culture. Back on the Philosophenweg, left in the direction of the city. At the opera house, turn left onto Landfermannstraße, past the main station in the direction of Kaiserberg, turn right at the university, then left into Forsthausweg into the forest on the Aktienberg. On and on through the forest, past ponds, downhill. In front of the railway embankment, turn right, parallel to the tracks, over the A3 to Koloniestraße. Cross under the railway line and turn right into Kruppstraße. Along the regatta course and through Wedau back to the Six Lakes District.
