Since its opening in 2011, the walk-in roller coaster sculpture has inspired audiences worldwide. The landmark, visible from afar, on a former slag heap in the south of Duisburg, offers you a magnificent view, in good weather as far as Düsseldorf. Around the sculpture you can see the ironworks, storage areas of the Logport and natural forest areas. The work of art is particularly impressive in the dark, when 880 LEDs draw the coils of the steel sculpture in the night sky. Tiger & Turtle - Magic Mountain is open day and night with free admission.

On a site of almost 180 hectares, "Landi" combines nature and industrial culture to create a unique park landscape. As a lighthouse project of the International Building Exhibition Emscher Park, the park attracts over one million visitors every year. In the park center is the disused Thyssen blast furnace plant Duisburg-Meiderich. The heath landscape as well as the rhododendron and primrose collections invite you to marvel. The new seating areas at the water lily pool offer perfect oases of peace.

Start at the parking lot of Duisburg Zoo on Mülheimer Straße and start the tour on the forest path in the middle. After a right-hand bend over narrow paths, turn left into the Forsthausweg up towards the forester's house. Turn right and pass the forester's house to the wild boar enclosure. At the next T-junction, turn left into Kammerweg and immediately right into Finkenpfad. Follow this to the small forest pond. Go right and immediately left again through the tunnel under the railway line. Behind the tunnel, keep to the right and after a few hundred meters you will come to the old quarry, which you circle once. Behind the quarry, turn left into Dachsweg, cross the Uhlenhorst country road. Half right into the Hombergweg and then left up the beaten path up the hill. Turn right at the top and right again at the next opportunity. You come to the barbecue area on the Worringer Reitweg and walk around it to the hiking car park. Leave the car park on the right and cross the Worringer Reitweg. Keep left in the forest and turn left at the second opportunity. Turn right in front of the fence and follow it until you turn right into a narrow path. Turn left into the "Hammerstein" path and then right into the Broicher Waldweg. At the next crossroads there is a refuge with picnic facilities. Turn right here into Vogelherdweg. Follow the path to a fence, then turn left back to the Worringer Reitweg. Walk along the road to the right until you reach a hikers' parking lot. Cross the road and take the second path into the forest at the beginning of the parking lot. Again at a hikers' car park, turn right, cross the Uhlenhorst country road again and go downhill, then slightly uphill to Haus Hartenfels. Follow the path straight ahead and turn left into Klöcknerweg. The first path on the right leads you back to the parking lot.

Start on the eastern shore of the lake south of the old Lohheide train station and follow the path along the lake to the south. Cross the grounds of the Lohheidesee sailing community and turn left into Schlotweg. At the next crossroads, take the second path from the right and the right path at the fork. Follow the path straight ahead to the T-junction, turn right and then immediately left. At the next fork turn right and then left. After a few metres, turn sharp right and cross the A42 motorway. Follow the path straight ahead to the Rheinpreußen slag heap (Römerstraße). Go up the main path to the slag heap and down again. Back at the foot of the slag heap, turn left along the Roman road and then right into the trail to the lake. Follow the path along the lake until just before the motorway. Go up to the left, cross the railroad tracks and turn right into Orsoyer Allee. Cross the A42 again and the country road behind it to get back into the Baerler Busch. At the first crossroads in the forest, turn left, at the next fork turn right and then take the first path right. At the next intersection, take the second path from the left, follow the path and then turn left into Buchenallee. The path winds through the moorland to a farmstead by the lake. Go straight ahead onto Laakmannsfeld Street and around the farm. If the path makes a left turn, go straight ahead to Lohheidesee and follow the path to the left along the water. Turn right into Damschenweg and follow it to the right around the lake. On the northeast shore, leave the lake briefly and follow Mühlenstraße south to the street "An der Lohmühle". Follow the road to the Lohmühle and walk the same way back to the lake. Behind the railway tracks and before the lake, turn left and follow the path along the lake to the starting point.

The starting point of your route is the Duisburg-Nord Landscape Park, which you can easily reach by car or public transport. Take some time to explore the vast grounds of the former ironworks. The Urban Hiking Trail then takes you across the grounds of the Ingenhamm Hof. With the blast furnaces behind you, you walk along the horse pastures towards the main building, where curious goats await you. The next section runs quietly through smaller woods to the Rhine-Herne Canal. The wide canal bridge of the A3 motorway has its own fascination. Then you set course for the Oberhausen-Lirich lock and cross the canal there. Continue along the canal towards Duisburg, where you can observe numerous bridges and ship traffic. Later, the trail leads you away from the canal over the Aaker ferry bridge into the Duissern district. Passing allotment gardens, you will soon reach Duisburg's inner harbour and the Küppersmühle Museum. There are plenty of restaurants along the promenade, and the museum is worth a visit for its architecture and artwork. Other highlights in the Inner Harbour are the Garden of Remembrance and the modern "Five Boats" office building. Between the modern and old buildings, you will find numerous photo spots. Duisburg city centre is now not far away. The path is peppered with public art. Once on Königstraße, you can then explore Wallstraße.

Start at the hiking car park at the end of Königstraße near the old lift bridge. Follow the path north to the Rhine dike and stay on the dike for about 2 km. After a while you will see a farm on your right. Take a sharp right and leave the dike. Walk straight ahead through the Rheinaue. At the end, turn right and follow the path to Kaiserstraße. Follow the road and after a while turn right into Königstraße, walk past your starting point and over the lift bridge. Walk down Rheinstraße to the ferry dock of the Walsum-Orsoy Rhine ferry. Take the ferry across the Rhine and walk on the other side via the ferry road to Orsoy. Behind the city gate, turn right up onto the Wallpromenadenring, which leads around the small town. From Ostwall, go to the street "An der Schanz" and turn right into Friedrichsplatz. Here you will find a snack bar and Café Hagemann. Go back through the city gate to the Rhine ferry and on the other side of the Rhine up to the hiking car park.

You start at the Six Lakes District and cycle along the Green Path to Meiderich. The view on the high bridge and at the Wildförstersee is magnificent. Keep to the right and continue cycling through the forest. A more beautiful panorama is offered by the Wolfsberg with its observation tower. We continue south on the A524, through Rahm and under the Duisburg-Düsseldorf railway line. Open countryside with fields and meadows awaits you along the city limits of Düsseldorf. Cross a pony farm. Cycle along the districts of Serm and Ungelsheim north to Hüttenheim. The historic buildings of the former workers' settlement invite you to explore. We continue to the Angerbach, then to the Heinrich-Hildebrand-Höhe with the sculpture Tiger & Turtle. Conquer the tiger and enjoy the view. On the Rhine, the panorama at the Logport II vantage point is impressive. The Wanheim waterfront promenade offers direct contact with the Rhine and a great view. Meet the RheinPark at the Hochfeld-Süd bridge. The former industrial area was converted into a park with a Rhine promenade. The artificial beach invites you to take a break. Cross the Bridge of Solidarity and pass the Rockelsberg slag heap on the left. On the main road you reach the Homberg towpath and enjoy the view of "Rheinorange" and the mouth of the Ruhr. Cross the Friedrich-Ebert-Brücke and drive through Ruhrort. Over the Karl-Lehr-Brückenzug to Kaßlerfeld to the Schwanentor Bridge. Drive through the Quartier Innenhafen, a mix of architecture and culture. Back on the Philosophenweg, left in the direction of the city. At the opera house, turn left onto Landfermannstraße, past the main station in the direction of Kaiserberg, turn right at the university, then left into Forsthausweg into the forest on the Aktienberg. On and on through the forest, past ponds, downhill. In front of the railway embankment, turn right, parallel to the tracks, over the A3 to Koloniestraße. Cross under the railway line and turn right into Kruppstraße. Along the regatta course and through Wedau back to the Six Lakes District.

The start at the Pollmann-Eck in Marxloh is easily accessible by car and public transport, here you can stock up on snacks for the tour. The Wolfsbahn route leads through the middle of the district to the Schwelgern Stadium. The route leads through Europe's largest steel mill. On the bridge you have a great view of the Schwelgern coking plant. Then it goes over the Alsumer Steig to the Rhine. The trail leads around the Alsumer Berg with a view of the Rhine and the Rheinpreußen slag heap. The mountain is easy to conquer and offers great views. Back to the Alsumer Steig or through the small forest. Turn right past thyssenkrupp Gate 7 and along the Alte Emscher towards Beeck. There you will find the star petrol station, an insider tip for photo spots. Continue along the A42 motorway over gravel paths and residential areas to a quiet piece of forest. At the end of the forest is the Hamborn Botanical Garden. In summer, you can experience a splendour of flowers in the cottage garden. The perfect place for a break. Then you will reach the grounds of the Duisburg-Nord Landscape Park. Over the track harp to the blast furnace backdrop. You can climb blast furnace 5 and overlook the green north of Duisburg. Plan several hours for the landscape park. Near the park is a tram stop on tram line 903. From here it is only a few stops to the starting point. Alternatively, you can park at the landscape park and take the train to the starting point.

Relax on the 200-metre-long beach or get active with rock climbing and beach volleyball. Stroll along the 1.4 kilometres of waterfront while children romp around in various play areas.
