Urban Hiking: Landscape Park, Waterways, Works of Art

The starting point of your route is the Duisburg-Nord Landscape Park, which you can easily reach by car or public transport. Take some time to explore the vast grounds of the former ironworks. The Urban Hiking Trail then takes you across the grounds of the Ingenhamm Hof. With the blast furnaces behind you, you walk along the horse pastures towards the main building, where curious goats await you. The next section runs quietly through smaller woods to the Rhine-Herne Canal. The wide canal bridge of the A3 motorway has its own fascination. Then you set course for the Oberhausen-Lirich lock and cross the canal there. Continue along the canal towards Duisburg, where you can observe numerous bridges and ship traffic. Later, the trail leads you away from the canal over the Aaker ferry bridge into the Duissern district. Passing allotment gardens, you will soon reach Duisburg's inner harbour and the Küppersmühle Museum. There are plenty of restaurants along the promenade, and the museum is worth a visit for its architecture and artwork. Other highlights in the Inner Harbour are the Garden of Remembrance and the modern "Five Boats" office building. Between the modern and old buildings, you will find numerous photo spots. Duisburg city centre is now not far away. The path is peppered with public art. Once on Königstraße, you can then explore Wallstraße.
