Probably the most casual concept - in one of Freiburg's oldest buildings, the Alte Wache. Young and old meet here (especially when the market is busy on Saturdays) for a Viertele, Achtele or even a whole bottle of Baden Pinot Gris or Pinot Noir - which you order yourself at the bar and enjoy with beautiful glasses and preferably lots of friends right outside on the market square. With a direct view of the cathedral and while standing, sitting or even walking - because you pay a deposit on the glasses and while you explore the old town, the other nice wine taverns are guaranteed to refill them.
