Not only for horse lovers

In the equestrian town of Verden there is a very special destination: The nationwide central museum on the cultural history of the horse is an absolute highlight for all generations in a modern, informative and eventful way. Experience the exciting development from the primeval horse to the current equestrian sport and thus at the same time an important part of our own cultural history. Take the lines into your own hands on the coach box, look at the environment through the eyes of a horse, try the sideways seat in the women's saddle or take a leisurely virtual ride over the Verden racecourse. The great importance of the horse for humans over the centuries becomes clear: helper in agriculture, transport, mining or war. The range of museum objects ranges from the full-size model of the primeval horse 55 million years ago to historical riding and driving equipment, paintings and sculptures to today's equestrian disciplines. Special children's stations also make the tour an experience for younger visitors. The museum also has an extensive photo archive and the hippological museum library with more than 18,000 titles from the early 16th century to the present day. The civil wedding is also possible here (registry office Verden: Tel. 04231 / 12-263 or 12-260). Founded in the 1920s, the museum is located in the former classicist cavalry barracks from 1831 on Holzmarkt in Verden, right next to the train station. The German Horse Museum includes a photo archive and the hippological museum library with around 18,000 titles from the early 16th century to the present day.  NEW: From now on, the museum can be explored as part of an escape tour. The exhibition serves as a puzzle backdrop - an innovative offer for all those who like puzzles and combinations. It is an app-supported escape tour, but you also have to crack mechanical puzzles and solve tricky brain teasers. The goal: With a self-made time-space camera, Professor Quantus wants to travel back 55 million years in the Earth's history to photograph the primeval horse for his horse-crazy daughter? Who will be able to help him with this?
