Official Garden

Hidden refuge in the middle of the city In the immediate vicinity of Giebichenstein Castle, a small wonder rises up on the rock above the Saale promenade. The Amtsgarten offers a hidden refuge to anyone who wants to escape the hustle and bustle of the city for a few moments. Its centerpiece is the terraced southern slope with rose garden and seasonally planted parterres. Accompanied by the scent of blossoms and industrious humming, one can reach charming vantage points, another ornamental bed with pergola, and the surrounding meadows via numerous paths and stairs. Today, the cooling shadows of old solitary trees such as gingko, leather pod tree or cord tree still bear witness to the eventful history as a former baroque garden and later landscape park based on the Wörlitz model.
