Invention of the telegraph
Immediately after Wilhelm Weber's death in 1891, the city made efforts to honor the physicist. With the support of numerous (prominent) natural scientists, it was finally possible to create a monument to perhaps Göttingen's two most important scholars of the 19th century, Carl Friedrich Gauss and Wilhelm Weber, who were closely linked in research and friendship.
The focus of the presentation is the most popular invention of the two scientists: the world's first electromagnetic telegraph.
