Jenaer Philharmonie
Musical highlight in Thuringia
The Jena Philharmonic Orchestra, with its home in the magnificent Ernst Abbe Hall of the Volkshaus, which opened in 1903, plays a central role in the cultural life of Jena and Thuringia. As the largest pure concert orchestra in the Free State of Thuringia, it radiates nationally and internationally. Its program ranges from chamber concerts to large symphony concerts and includes projects such as the Mahler-Scartazzini cycle with world-famous soloists. The three associated choirs are unique: Philharmonic Choir, Madrigal Circle and Boys' Choir. The Jena Philharmonic Orchestra is characterized by its diversity and love of experimentation, which is reflected in special concert formats and collaborations. With performances at various venues in the city, including the Volksbad and the Kassablanca, the orchestra is in constant dialog with the people and shapes the cultural life of the city.
