Johannisfriedhof
Ivy-covered history
The cemetery, which was established in the Middle Ages, is now used as a park and has historical significance for Jena. Distinguished personalities, such as Carl Zeiss, were buried in this area. No graves have been laid out in the Johannisfriedhof for almost 100 years.
The ivy-covered graves, the huge, old deciduous trees and wide avenues give the cemetery its park-like, magnificent and at the same time peaceful appearance.
