Tüöttenmuseum
The life of the Tüötten
The Tüöttenmuseum in Mettingen vividly illustrates the history of the linen merchants - the Tüötten - and the development from peddlers to a department store empire.
The museum is divided into three houses, each with a different thematic focus, providing an insight into the life of the linen merchants. Exhibits include a loom, a work bench with bones for the clog maker, an ornate brass bed warmer, baby equipment from around 1850 and lace making. Impressive wall paintings, drawings, photos and reverse glass paintings also provide an insight into the life of the Tüötten and their families.
