Museum Abtei Liesborn
Time travel into monastic life
Liesborn Abbey was once one of the most important monasteries in the diocese of Münster. Today, only parts of the former monastery complex remain, such as the baroque residence of the abbot and the Gothic hall church from the 15th century. The oldest part of this church, a Romanesque tower from the 12th century, dates back to the time when the monastery was a secular convent. Today, the building is home to the Liesborn Abbey Museum. With its impressive art and cultural history collection, it is one of the most important museums in Westphalia. One special feature is certainly Europe's largest collection of crucifixes.
