Prinzenhaus
A touch of royal history and culture
The Prince's House, also called the pearl of the Rococo, is one of the most important Rococo buildings in northern Germany. In the baroque garden of the palace, which was laid out from 1730 to 1748, a pavilion was built from 1744 onwards, which served as a private garden palace for Duke Friedrich Carl. Here the Duke and Duchess withdrew from the prestigious court. From 1895 onwards, the Rococo palace served the six sons of Kaiser Wilhelm II as a residence and training centre (Prinzenschule). For this purpose, it was extended by the two side wings and the marble hall was converted into a training room. In the further course of the 20th century, the Prince's House belonged to changing educational institutions, most recently it was the girls' home of the State Boarding School Schloss Plön. Today, the Prince's House is the property of the German Foundation for the Protection of Monuments. It is suitable for concerts, conferences, lectures, receptions, weddings and much more.
