Industrial culture meets natural idyll

With event venues such as the Jahrhunderthalle, cultural venues such as the Colosseum Bochum and the former Dampfgebläsehalle, as well as the striking green water tower and its two cooling towers, which are all illuminated in color after dark, the former industrial area has been transformed into a landscaped park with event spaces. The Westpark also offers guided tours on various topics. The water basins of the former sewage and cooling plant can be accessed via a curved footbridge, there are also two green play landscapes and an approximately two-kilometre-long circular path that leads around the top plateau of the Westpark and from which you have a view of the park and the city.the various levels that make the Westpark a modern city garden were created using demolished plants, production waste and slag. The individual terraces are separated by retaining walls and grassy embankments and are connected by ramps, steps and bridges.
