Münster
Expression of a genius
The Kunstmuseum Pablo Picasso Münster is Germany's only Picasso museum. It houses the world's most extensive collection of Pablo Picasso's lithographs as well as other Picasso works in various artistic techniques and from different creative periods. Large collections of works by his fellow artists Georges Braque, Marc Chagall, Joan Miró and Henri Matisse are also among the museum's treasures.
In changing exhibitions, the Picasso Museum illuminates the multifaceted work of the Spaniard by placing his graphic work in dialog with painting and sculpture. The museum's exhibitions dedicated to his artistic companions also explore these cross-references. In keeping with the spirit of its namesake, the museum is a house of constant change that attracts visitors with special exhibitions several times a year.

The museum, which opened in 2004, focuses on the music of rock and pop history. The exhibition combines experience with information and sensory experience with interaction. Sound corridors and media installations allow visitors to experience the music directly. The museum also provides detailed background information on 100 years of rock and pop history.
One highlight is the CAN Studio, one of the most legendary German recording studios. Eight studio albums by the German avant-garde band "CAN" were produced here in the 1970s. Albums for Marius Müller-Westerhagen were also produced here. We particularly recommend the Greenbox, where you can become the star of your own music video.

Emsdetten
Four at one stroke
Hof Deitmar is the only one of the four "original farms" that once shaped the village of Emsdetten to have been preserved, making it a special focal point of the town even today. The adjoining park with its large playground is a popular destination for families in particular. But culture lovers will also find a wide range of attractions on the Hof Deitmar museum island, as the grounds around the beautiful half-timbered building are also known. The Heimatbund Emsdetten, which also uses parts of the premises at Hof Deitmar, runs several museums on the site: the Wannenmachermuseum, the August-Holländer-Museum, the Backhaus and the Speicher. Each museum is unique in its own way and displays special historical events from Emsdetten.

Telgte
Discover Westphalian art and culture
The RELíGIO - Westphalian Museum of Religious Culture provides insights into the themes of pilgrimage, Cardinal von Galen and the transformation of Christmas customs. The name is intended to reflect the connection between the region and religion, as the exhibits have a strong connection to Westphalia.
The museum has seven active collection areas: from world religions to everyday culture and modern art.
An impressive eye-catcher is the large Telgte Famine Shroud from 1623, which contains 33 pictorial panels made in fillet stitch. These depictions describe the suffering and resurrection of Jesus Christ as well as models of the Passion from the Old Testament.

Ostbevern
Time travel through washing culture
This museum, which is probably unique in Germany, shows the history of laundry washing. More than 5000 exhibits show in a detailed and humorous way the development of the "housewife's everyday life" from a bar of soap to a cold ironer weighing tons.
The development of laundry care comes to life in the former village school. Visitors can vividly follow how washing methods changed from laborious manual work to modern techniques. A worthwhile stop for history buffs and technology enthusiasts. The oldest exhibit even dates back to the 17th century. The highlight, however, is a cold ironer from 1889 weighing around three and a half tons.

Cultural diversity up close
Nestled against the mighty tower of the parish church of Ss. Cosmas and Damian, the time-honored Liesborn Abbey lies in the heart of the village. Originally founded as a convent for ladies, it developed into one of the most important monasteries in the diocese of Münster. Since 1966, the former monastery has housed the lively Liesborn Abbey Museum, which, with its impressive collection, is one of the most important museums in Westphalia.
Exhibitions, concerts, lectures, museum festivals, markets, guided tours and museum educational programs take place here throughout the year. The Baroque ambience of the former Benedictine abbey houses works from the region as well as Flemish and Dutch landscape and architectural paintings from the Baroque period. Westphalian domestic culture of the Baroque period, Classicism and Biedermeier are also presented here. Modern art also finds its place here.
Legend has it that the monastery was founded in 815 by Charlemagne, who appointed his own sister Roswindis, the first abbess of the convent, as head of the canonesses. More likely is a foundation at the end of the 9th century by two noble benefactors. The steeple of the convent church still stands today as an architectural witness of the ladies' time.

Ochtrup
The history of sound
The pottery museum is located in a historic home of a former pottery family and shows their living situation at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. At that time, 23 potteries were still producing in Ochtrup. In the house, which dates back to 1678, ceramic exhibits are displayed alongside the furniture of the old farmhouse. The oldest objects in the collection date back to the 14th/15th century. It is probably one of the smallest museums in the area, but nevertheless provides an interesting overview of the local pottery industry over the past centuries. The "Ochtrup seven-handled pot" and the "Ochtrup nightingale" are particularly characteristic of the town of Ochtrup. The nightingale is a vessel flute that makes a sound like birdsong when you blow into it.
The museum also hosts special exhibitions of modern ceramics and other art objects. Regular pottery courses give young and old the chance to get creative themselves.

Münster
The Münsterland of days gone by
The Mühlenhof is a very special place, as a piece of Münsterland culture and history has been preserved here with a great deal of passion. In the open-air museum, visitors can stroll through the past and experience life at first hand.
On the five-hectare site, visitors will find 30 large and small buildings from the 16th to 19th centuries. Many of the buildings are original structures from the period and were originally located in rural Münsterland or Emsland, while others have been reconstructed based on old models. The interiors of the houses are furnished with historical household items, giving visitors an authentic impression of the living habits and circumstances as well as the way of working in the Münsterland of the past.
The Bockwindmühle, the Rossmühle, the Backhaus, the Spieker, the Mühlenhaus and the Gräftenhof are special architectural monuments.

Vreden
Change of perspective between modernity and tradition
The kult has been in Vreden since 2017. It combines state-of-the-art architecture, museum, research and science like no other building in western Germany. In this impressive building, the juxtaposition of old and new could hardly be greater. On the one hand, the clear lines and structures of the modern building and, on the other, art-historical exhibits from more than 1400 years of history. This change of perspective is what makes the kult so appealing and unusual!

Haltern am See
Time travel to Roman times
The Romans left clear traces in Haltern am See and the surrounding area. In the time of Emperor Augustus, Haltern was considered an important military camp with numerous important facilities. During the search for traces, the researchers have already been able to trace a main camp and the camp suburb and thus draw important conclusions about the Romans' way of life. The location on the River Lippe and the proximity to Germania explain the important strategic position of the camp. It is not for nothing that Haltern played an important role in the famous Varus Battle.
The museum shows in a vivid and modern way how the Romans went about their daily lives and how world history was written at the same time. The exhibits invite visitors to join in and be amazed. The Aliso Roman construction site at the back of the museum is well worth a visit.
