Na trilha da história judaica
Na Idade Média, os mercadores judeus desempenharam um papel importante na antiga cidade comercial de Erfurt. No século 14, sua expulsão começou. Sob o domínio prussiano no século 19, os cidadãos judeus mais uma vez ajudaram a moldar a economia e a vida cultural da cidade.
Os restos de uma das sinagogas mais antigas da Europa (Antiga Sinagoga) testemunham esse passado. Hoje, o rito judaico, a vida cotidiana judaica e a convivência cristão-judaica, bem como conflitos, perseguição e expulsão de judeus na Idade Média, são documentados em Erfurt com testemunhos mais autênticos do que em qualquer outro lugar do mundo.
