A Telefunken Schallplatten GmbH (TELDEC) abriu uma gravadora em uma antiga fábrica de couro em 1948. Lá, os discos eram produzidos com uma prensa de couro. Estes incluíram discos de ouro para Peter Maffay. Um total de cerca de 850 milhões de registros foram prensados em Nortorf. Quando a empresa fechou em 1989, foi fundada a associação de museus, que fez campanha para a criação de um museu em Nortorf. Foi finalmente inaugurado no mesmo ano. O museu mostra o desenvolvimento do disco desde seus primórdios em discos de goma laca até LPs e CDs, mas também desvios para Tefifon, fita e de música podem ser encontrados na extensa coleção. O Museu Förderverein Nortorf voltou a funcionar na antiga casa de caldeiras da antiga fábrica de discos Teldec Press.
