Um dia no Itzenplitzer Weiher
A mina de Itzenplitz, localizada no distrito de Schiffweiler de Heiligenwald, esteve em operação de 1856 a 1935. O conjunto da mina de Itzenplitz consiste em um sistema de içamento de eixo, uma casa de máquinas de içamento, uma casa de interruptores e o mais antigo andaime de feixe de corda sobrevivente na mineração do Sarre. O vizinho Itzenplitzer Weiher sempre preservou o idílio aparente da mineração anterior e hoje serve como uma área de lazer local para caminhantes, caminhantes nórdicos, ciclistas, cavaleiros e pescadores. O corpo de água está inserido em uma extensa rede de trilhas para caminhadas e em um parque de caminhada nórdico e é um dos exemplos mais bem-sucedidos de uma transformação abrangente e bem-sucedida de uma área anteriormente usada para mineração em uma atraente área de lazer local. Um atrativo que vale a pena ver é o Pumpenhaus, idilicamente localizado à beira da lagoa, que não só é considerado uma raridade técnica e única na Alemanha, mas também prova de forma impressionante que os edifícios industriais podem ser esteticamente agradáveis.
