Schiffweiler
Un día en el Itzenplitzer Weiher
La mina Itzenpitz, situada en el distrito de Schiffweiler de Heiligenwald, estuvo en funcionamiento desde 1856 hasta 1935. El conjunto de la mina Itzenplitz consta de un sistema de elevación de pozos, una casa de máquinas elevadoras, una casa de interruptores y el andamio de polea de cable más antiguo que se conserva en la minería del Sarre. La vecina Itzenplitzer Weiher siempre ha conservado el aparente idilio de la minería anterior y hoy en día sirve como área de recreo local para excursionistas, caminantes nórdicos, ciclistas, jinetes y pescadores. El cuerpo de agua está incrustado en una extensa red de rutas de senderismo y en un parque de marcha nórdica y es uno de los ejemplos más exitosos de una transformación integral y exitosa de un área anteriormente utilizada para la minería en una atractiva área de recreación local. Un punto de atracción digno de ver es el Pumpenhaus, idílicamente situado junto al estanque, que no solo se considera una rareza técnica y único en Alemania, sino que también demuestra de forma impresionante que los edificios industriales pueden ser estéticamente agradables.
