Pausa un momento en el "Bücker Dom"
Cuenta la leyenda que en el año 1050 unos monjes encargados de determinar la ubicación de una nueva iglesia en la comarca de la Hoya pidieron una señal a Dios. Donde el burro se agachaba y se sentaba, querían construir la iglesia. Pero cuando el animal quiso instalarse en el "Wüsteney", lo arrastraron hasta que se inclinó en el lugar donde hoy se encuentra la colegiata, en medio de la comunidad de Bücken. La "Catedral de la Tierra de la Hoya" con su impresionante fachada de doble torre está equipada con grandes tesoros artísticos. Entre ellos se encuentran la cruz triunfal de 1230 y las vidrieras ricamente ilustradas, también del siglo XIII.
El "Bücker Dom" tiene una historia llena de acontecimientos a sus espaldas. El edificio de piedra, construido a partir de 1050, sustituyó a una antigua iglesia de madera en el centro misionero fundado en 882 por el obispo Rimberto de Bremen. La colegiata se amplió en varias etapas hasta 1350. En el curso de la secularización del monasterio, el edificio declinó después de la Reforma, antes de que se llevara a cabo la restauración completa de Adalbert Hotzen de 1863 a 1867. Llamada así por San Materno y más tarde por San Nicolás, cuya vida está representada en las ventanas medievales, la colegiata está considerada como uno de los edificios sagrados más importantes de la región del Weser Medio en la historia del arte. Tiene unos 50 m de largo, 25 m de ancho, las torres tienen unos buenos 52 m de altura. Entre los muchos tesoros artísticos y culturales notables de la "Catedral", destacan la cruz triunfal (1230), la sillería del coro (1340) y el altar (1510). Desde el año 2000, un Vía Crucis, creado por Pablo Hirndorf a partir de láminas de cobre desgastado de la antigua torre de la iglesia, adorna las paredes laterales.
