Bonner Münster
Companions of history
The sculptured heads of Bonn's patron saints Cassius and Florentius have been on St. Martin's Square at Bonn Minster since 2002. The soldiers of the Theban Legion died during a persecution of Christians in the 3rd century. The work of art is intended to commemorate the nature of their martyrdom, as the two city saints were beheaded. Their relics rest just a few meters away in the crypt of the cathedral.
