A day full of animal adventures

In the middle of the city and yet relaxed - the Saarbrücken Zoo is located on the southwestern slope of the Eschberg. The idyllic mountain and valley landscape invites you to recharge your batteries! On 12 hectares, the zoo is home to 1300 animals in 150 species. Saarbrücken Zoo is a member of numerous national and international organisations and participates in 28 breeding programmes for endangered species. New and spacious enclosures have been created for seals, gorillas, penguins and ring-tailed lemurs. Twice a day you can watch the popular feeding of seals and penguins. Pony rides for children are available on Sundays and public holidays. Children's birthday parties, guided tours for school classes and adults take place all year round. In the winter months, the zoo organises an interesting series of lectures in the zoo school. There are animals from five continents on display. Here you will find the largest monkey species in the world, the gorilla, as well as the tiny pygmy marmoset. There are big cats from Africa and South America and much more. The Red Pandas from the Himalayas are brand new. Nocturnal animals can be admired in the night zoo.
