Barockschloss Lichtenwalde
A walk through history
Lichtenwalde Palace and Park form one of the most remarkable Baroque ensembles in Germany. A minister of Augustus the Strong had the three-winged complex built from 1722-1726 and his son laid out the park. Lichtenwalde Palace Park was laid out from 1730. The basic Baroque to late Baroque structure depicted in the park plan of 1767 has been preserved almost undisturbed. Terraces connected with multi-level staircases and water in the form of pools, fountains, wall fountains, bubblers and cascades played an important role in the design.
