Would you rather be on land than on the water? There is a cycle and hiking trail to the north of the lake that runs directly along the shore from Wetter to Herdecke. This is visibly separated between cyclists and pedestrians and is part of the Ruhr Valley cycle path. The Hagen shore of Lake Harkort is less well developed so that, unlike Lake Hengstey, it is not always possible to cycle directly around the shore. On the southern shore of Lake Harkort there are mainly camping and tent sites as well as a small marina. However, if you move a little away from the shore on the Hagen side, you can also walk around the lake between the Kaisberg and the lake or over the middle of the Kaisberg. This route is around ten kilometers.
