Going in search of clues
The Sachsenwald - with about 70 square meters the largest contiguous forest area in Schleswig-Holstein - was once the hunting ground of Emperor Wilhelm I, who gave the area to Chancellor Otto von Bismarck in 1871 for his services. Even today, parts of the forest belong to the von Bismarck family, who run an estate there where they live. 6 signposted hiking trails invite you to search for traces!
