Once you've seen all the splendor of the UNESCO World Heritage Church of St. Michaelis, all you have to do is turn a corner and silence spreads out: You land here in the middle of the most beautiful greenery. Where fruit and vegetables were once grown for the adjacent monastery, you will now find one of the oldest parks in northern Germany - a quiet gem in the middle of the city. Hundreds of roses exude their fragrance just like the rare wild tulips, and in the meadow orchard you will find old, valuable fruit tree varieties. On the sunny southern slope, there is a small vineyard that was already planted in monastic times, where you can discover a variety of wild herbs in addition to the vines - no wonder that insects and bees also feel at home here.
