One of the most popular excursion destinations and recreational areas in the city: The Maschsee lake in the middle of the city attracts water sports enthusiasts just as much as it invites them to stroll, cycle or jog. The artificial lake, built between 1934 and 1936 in the Leinemasch, attracts water sports enthusiasts just as much as it invites them to stroll, cycle or jog along its approximately 6 kilometers of lakeside paths. In recent years, it has increasingly become a meeting place for inline skaters.
