The baroque palace, originally built for the Weimar minister von Fritsch, shines with magnificent private and representative rooms. From 1774 it served Duchess Anna Amalia as a city apartment. The magnificent dining room was a popular meeting place for Weimar celebrities, and the "Friday Society" founded by Goethe met here from time to time.
After the death of the Duchess, the palace became a guest quarters and meeting place of the Masonic lodge Amalia.
