Six wings, many windows and what is probably the most beautiful university in Germany are located in the middle of Mannheim — more precisely, in the baroque Mannheim Palace, the wonderfully magnificent building on the edge of the squares. It is the second largest baroque palace in Europe after Versailles. Legend has it that the Mannheim master builders deliberately planned exactly one more window than their French neighbour. The creation of vanilla ice cream, strawberry sauce and white chocolate, which was created here almost five decades ago, offers a unique explosion of flavours for the whole family.

On the banks of the mighty river, you can relax and dangle your feet in the water on terraced steps. As the large ships pass by, a contrast to the hustle and bustle of the city is created that invites you to linger.
