Erfurt
Between desert and jungle
Water plays a central role here: it is impressively shown how the lack or abundance of water affects the flora and fauna. While competition for the sun's rays rages in the warm, humid rainforest, the desert dwellers are thirsty for water.
Danakil is an experience for all the senses. Many connections between the two climate zones are shown by landscape scanners, soil sections with explanations or a specially developed app on the circular trail and the search for water.

The Botanical Garden is an institution of the Friedrich Schiller University Jena and is centrally located in the city.

Erfurt
Little Venice
The island-like park got its name from the many arms of the river into which the Gera divides here. Meadows, benches and a kind of staircase invite you to stay.
Extensive walks or bike tours are made possible by well-developed paths that wind along both sides of the Gera from the Krämerbrücke through the Venice to the Nordpark and far beyond.
On the occasion of BUGA 2021, restorations and innovations were carried out on a large number of the parks along the river. Walkers and cyclists can expect not only new paths and plantings, but also playgrounds, an outdoor fitness park and a number of places to linger, enjoy and take a deep breath.
