Bovenau
Strawberry and raspberry farm at Gut Steinwehr
Between Rendsburg and Kiel, directly on the Kiel Canal, lies the Steinwehr estate. Strawberries and raspberries have been grown here for decades, but cherries, currants, blackberries and aronia berries can also be found on the plantations. Visitors can lend a hand themselves and pick the most beautiful fruits from the bushes and, of course, snack on them in the process. If you don't want to pick, you can buy the fresh fruit in the farm shop. Other products from producers from the region are offered there, such as vegetables, eggs, fresh honey and the jams and juices made on Steinwehr itself. In the adjacent garden café, home-baked pies, cakes and waffles - stocked with freshly picked fruit - are offered, as well as a diverse selection of coffee specialties. After refreshments, the little visitors can let off steam on the spacious playground. If you can't get enough of Steinwehr and the picturesque landscape, reserve a seat on the carriage for the famous "Goods Tour". Comfortably with horse and cart, accompanied by a tour guide, you dive deep into the history of Bovenau and its surrounding estates.
