The patrician house was built around 1600 as an eye-catcher with other town houses on the market square in Halle (Saale). With its red façade and stair tower in the inner courtyard, the Marktschlösschen is a jewel in the Renaissance style. Over the centuries, it has been the noble home of salt counts, merchants and a pharmacist. Rebuilt several times, it housed the pharmacy "Zum Goldenen Löwen" as well as a coffee house, a hardware store, the Ratsschenke and later the historical instruments of the Handel House. Today, the building, which is a listed building, combines the tourist information office with the hallesaale* and university shop.

Bathing here is only for cold showers!🥶 The water is constantly replenished from a fresh spring and the old flows directly into the fish pond next door. But not only the water is constantly exchanged here, also the gravel, the old moves into the streets and new comes from the gravel plant next to - smart! In a lovingly restored half-timbered house, you will be warmly welcomed by the Alt family. Authentic craftsmanship surrounds you as you enjoy homemade cakes and Fairtrade coffee. For children there is a small garden to explore. A highlight is the yoghurt ice cream with black olives and honey - a surprisingly tasty combination. A cozy place for a break with a family atmosphere.
