Bad Honnef
Mindful time-out
A walk to the cemetery may seem unusual at first glance, but the forest cemetery in Rhöndorf is really something special. At the beginning of the 1920s, it was laid out on a former meadow site according to the plans of the Bonn sculptor and painter Dr. Karl Menser at the foot of the Siebengebirge. Dr. Karl Menser described the cemetery as follows: "The Rhöndorf cemetery is intended as a forest cemetery, which blends effectively and harmoniously into the landscape profile given by mountains, valleys and forests through its artistic and horticultural layout." This goal has undoubtedly been achieved and as a visitor you will be captured by the special atmosphere of the complex.
Again and again, tourists ask about the graves of Konrad Adenauer, Peter Scholl-Latour and Max Riese, the founder of Penaten. The cemetery is therefore not only a place of peace and reflection, but also a historically significant place. A mindful break here is definitely recommended.
Be impressed by the harmonious embedding of the cemetery in the natural environment and enjoy the special atmosphere of this place. A walk here offers a serene and reflective experience that you won't soon forget.
