Many moorland landscapes have been drained by peat extraction in recent decades. Ecologists now consider moors to be biotopes worth preserving. The "Mythos Moor" hiking tour leads through a varied landscape, invites you to enjoy the tranquillity of the moorland and to explore the Achim golf course.

In 2006, a volunteer working group was set up to create a regionally typical place of play and culture. This is also the centre of all districts of Kükenmoor. Here you can find information about nature and ecology, the moor, animals and plants and the local history and culture.

South of Kirchlinteln is the approximately ten-hectare nature reserve Hügelgräber-Heide. This dry sandy heath is the westernmost foothills of the Lüneburg Heath. The Bronze Age burial mounds date from 2,500 to 1,400 years BC. A total of 18 burial mounds have been preserved. In this region, the graves are sparse. The connection, which has been known since the Middle Ages as the Lüneburg Salt Trail or the Post Trail, runs past here. In the Middle Ages, a lot of firewood was needed for the Lüneburg salt works. The forest was cleared and heather now grew on the poor soil. The area has been a nature reserve since 1935. Heidschnucken keep the heathland free. Furthermore, there are some hollow roads that bear witness to earlier trade routes.

Extensive marshes, forest areas, the Weser river valley and typical high moor landscape form the framework for a charming, varied stretch of land with a high recreational value. For this reason, Baden even bore the suffix "climatic health resort" for a time in the past. Baden is not only the meeting of the Weser, the Alte Aller and the Schleusenkanal, which was widened in 2010, at the foot of the Baden mountains, but Baden also has the highest elevation in the area (approx. 48m) with the Schraderberg. The terracing of Baden's Weser slope in the 19th century opened up a wide view over the Weser. A unique panorama with a magnificent view of the Syker and Wildeshauser Geest as well as the Verden Cathedral. In 2013, Baden, the largest district of Achim, celebrated its 1000th anniversary.
