The Secret of the Golden Leibniz Biscuit
The famous "Golden Cookie" is "only" gilded and hangs on the outside of the building of the Bahlsen administration from 1911. At the beginning of 2013, the biscuit became famous worldwide when it was stolen in a night and fog operation. The thief had then turned to Bahlsen by mail in a Cookie Monster costume and demanded, among other things, that Bahlsen should donate cookies to the Hanover Children's Hospital on the Bult. Bahlsen then offered to donate 52,000 packs of biscuits to 52 social institutions if the biscuit was returned. The gold-plated biscuit was found hanging from the statue of the Lower Saxony horse in front of the Guelph Castle on 5 February. The unknown perpetrator has not yet been caught. Some time later, the biscuit was hung back in its original place.
