This small tunnel goes directly under the rampart and leads to the beautiful Old Botanical Garden, which is especially worth seeing in spring and summer.

The Göttingen Beautification Society planned the construction in the 1880s. While it was still under construction, the association decided to name the tower after the former Chancellor of the Reich, Otto von Bismarck.

Entrances can be found on Weender Straße (next to the Auditorium Maximum), Untere Karspüle 1 and Wilhelm-Weber-Straße.

Have you ever visited the bird park meadow? Right in the city forest near the KWP and a few minutes' walk from the Kehr, you can recharge your batteries there in nature. Fun fact: Göttingen's (controversial) private zoo used to stand on the grounds.

Göttingen is the city of 1000 gardens and maybe you know someone or live in a house with such charming backyards. This one has a very unique view of the Johanniskirche, but as far as I know it is not open to the public. But there are great city tours that also come to gardens that are not normally accessible.

On the Schillerwiesen you can completely fade out your everyday life and let yourself be carried away by the sunny atmosphere: Everywhere there are sometimes smaller, sometimes larger groups, with guitar, Bluetooth boxes, badminton sets, Frisbees or all together - and you in the middle. A unique atmosphere!

This special monument is known to some as the "elephant toilet". It was inaugurated in 1903 and has undergone some changes over time. Originally, the monument consisted of six pillars arranged in a semicircle around the tower. These pillars are no longer part of the monument today. But you can not only learn some history here: the square is now often used as a barbecue area, a truly authentic experience that everyone should try! When do you ever have the opportunity to visit a historical site and create a barbecue adventure in the process? So enjoy your barbecue at the elephant toilet and revel in the history of this unique place!
