Im Juni verwandelt sich Krakau in eine Bühne mittelalterlicher Legenden. Beim Lajkonik-Umzug marschiert ein Mann, verkleidet als mongolischer Krieger auf einem Steckenpferd, durch die Altstadt, symbolisiert den Triumph über die Tartareninvasion des 13. Jahrhunderts. Ein spielerischer Schlag mit seinem Zepter soll Glück bringen, während seine Begleitung um symbolische Lösegelder bittet. Eine faszinierende Vermischung von Geschichte und Folklore.
