Legenda głosi, że w 1050 roku kilku mnichów, którym zlecono określenie lokalizacji nowego kościoła w regionie Hoya, poprosiło Boga o znak. Tam, gdzie osioł schylał się i siadał, chcieli zbudować kościół. Ale kiedy zwierzę chciało osiedlić się w "Wüsteney", ciągnęli je dalej, aż pochyliło się w miejscu, gdzie dziś stoi kolegiata - w środku gminy Bücken. "Katedra Ziemi Hoya" z imponującą fasadą z podwójną wieżą jest wyposażona w wielkie skarby sztuki. Należą do nich krzyż triumfalny z 1230 roku oraz bogato ilustrowane witraże, również z XIII wieku.
"Bücker Dom" ma za sobą burzliwą historię. Kamienna budowla, budowana od 1050 roku, zastąpiła stary drewniany kościół w ośrodku misyjnym założonym w 882 roku przez biskupa Rimberta z Bremy. Kolegiata była rozbudowywana w kilku etapach aż do 1350 roku. W trakcie sekularyzacji klasztoru, budowla podupadła po reformacji, zanim w latach 1863-1867 miała miejsce gruntowna renowacja przez Adalberta Hotzena. Nazwana na cześć św. Materniana, a później św. Mikołaja, którego życie przedstawione jest w średniowiecznych oknach, kolegiata uważana jest za jedną z najważniejszych budowli sakralnych w regionie środkowej Wezery w historii sztuki. Ma około 50 m długości, 25 m szerokości, wieże mają dobre 52 m wysokości. Wśród wielu godnych uwagi skarbów artystycznych i kulturalnych "Katedry" wyróżnia się krzyż triumfalny (1230), stalle chóru (1340) i ołtarz (1510). Od 2000 roku ściany boczne zdobią stacje Drogi Krzyżowej, wykonane przez Pabla Hirndorfa z wyblakłych miedzianych blach starej wieży kościelnej.
