De imposante Eiderstuwdam in Wesselburenerkoog, een van de grootste kustbeschermingswerken van Europa, trekt zowel toeristen als de lokale bevolking aan. Het zorgt voor het scheepvaartverkeer tussen de Eider en de Noordzee, draineert het moeras en beschermt tegen stormvloeden. Vijf enorme dubbele poorten en een 25 meter lange sluis met basculebrug regelen de doorstroming van het water en het scheepvaartverkeer. Excursies naar de zeehonden en een tocht met het restaurantschip door het Eiderlandschap beginnen vanaf hier. De fascinerende technologie, de haven en het panoramische uitzicht trekken het hele jaar door talloze gasten aan. Bezoekers kunnen het spervuur op eigen houtje verkennen en de informatieborden op de parkeerplaats aan de kant van Dithmarschen bestuderen. Het gebied is niet barrièrevrij.
