Álljunk meg egy pillanatra a "Bücker Dom"-ban
A legenda szerint 1050-ben néhány szerzetes, akiket megbíztak egy új templom helyének meghatározásával a Hoya régióban, jelet kértek Istentől. Ahol a szamár lehajolt és leült, ott akarták felépíteni a templomot. De amikor az állat le akart telepedni a "Wüsteney"-ben, addig húzták, amíg le nem hajolt azon a helyen, ahol ma a kollégiumi templom áll - Bücken közösségének közepén. A "Hoya Land székesegyháza" lenyűgöző kettős torony homlokzatával nagy művészeti kincsekkel van felszerelve. Ezek közé tartozik az 1230-as diadalkereszt és a gazdagon illusztrált ólomüveg ablakok, szintén a 13. századból.
A "Bücker Dom" mögött eseménydús történelem áll. Az 1050-től épült kőépület a missziós központ régi fatemplomát váltotta fel, amelyet 882-ben alapított Rimbert brémai püspök. A kollégiumi templomot 1350-ig több szakaszban bővítették. A kolostor szekularizációja során az épület a reformáció után hanyatlásnak indult, majd 1863 és 1867 között Adalbert Hotzen alapos restaurálására került sor. A Szent Maternianusról, majd Szent Miklósról elnevezett kollégiumi templomot, amelynek életét a középkori ablakok ábrázolják, a művészettörténet Közép-Weser régiójának egyik legfontosabb szent épületének tekintik. Körülbelül 50 m hosszú, 25 m széles, a tornyok jó 52 m magasak. A "székesegyház" számos figyelemre méltó művészeti és kulturális kincse közül kiemelkedik a diadalkereszt (1230), a kórusfülkék (1340) és az oltár (1510). 2000 óta a Pablo Hirndorf által a régi templomtorony viharvert rézlemezeiből készített keresztút díszíti az oldalfalakat.
