Ein farbenfrohes Relikt
Siegert's house
The only remaining baroque façade in downtown Chemnitz immediately catches the eye among the many different architectural styles. The house with its squiggly pink baroque facade on the edge of the market square does not fit at all into the time and somehow also not to this city. And yet, at least its namesake is crucial to Chemnitz history, as it was Johann Georg Siegert who paved the way for seven Macedonian merchants to lay the foundation for the Chemnitz textile industry.
